The variety belongs to the nutans botanical variety and is a two-row barley. It possesses high yield potential, good resistance to lodging, and high resistance to powdery mildew (Erysiphe graminis), serving as a donor of this trait in breeding. When grown under Eastern European conditions, the variety may exhibit weak resistance to severe droughts.
The variety was widely used as a standard in state variety trials and research work to assess the productivity and adaptability of other genotypes. It is listed in the spring barley entries of the German Bundessortenamt variety registers.
