The variety belongs to winter barley forms and is two-rowed. It underwent breeding selection in Bulgaria and is widely used as source material for the development of new varieties, such as Asparuh, as well as in experimental crosses.

In scientific research, the variety is characterized as an object with studied genetic control of quantitative traits, including plant height, spike length, number of grains per spike, and thousand kernel weight. Studies show that the inheritance of these traits in crosses has a complex nature.
