The winter barley variety Landi was obtained as a result of breeding work using the formula (LBP 818 x Tria) x Tapir. Its key feature is a specific resistance to powdery mildew (Blumeria graminis f.sp. hordei), officially described as the Ln trait.
Along with resistance to powdery mildew, studies noted this variety's susceptibility to leaf stripe (Drechslera graminea) when grown under organic farming conditions. The variety is traditionally intended for use as animal feed or in the brewing industry.
