The Libelle variety belongs to the two-row spring barley group and was obtained by crossing the Br 1622 and Trumpf varieties. It is characterized as a malting variety that possessed quality indicators in demand for this industry.

Due to its genetic properties, the variety was actively used in breeding programs. It is best known as one of the parental components used in the development of the Barke variety in 1996, as well as a participant in genetic populations for studying plant quality and resistance parameters.
