Medina is a hybrid form of winter barley. The plant is included in the official descriptive variety lists of the Federal Plant Variety Office of Germany, in which the variety appeared from 2013 to 2020.

In official data, the variety is characterized by resistance to barley yellow mosaic virus (BaYMV). Additional development parameters, such as vegetation periods and plant height, are presented in the agency's open publications as coded evaluation indicators.
