The winter barley variety Monix was obtained by crossing the varieties Astrix and Sonja. It was widely used in breeding programs of the 1980s and 1990s as a parent form, in particular, in the creation of the variety Karisma.
In studies of the 1980s, the variety's susceptibility to leaf stripe was noted, which required the use of fungicides. In modern catalogs, this variety is not represented as a commercial one and appears in databases as a collection sample.
