The Obzor variety is a winter two-row barley bred in Bulgaria at the Institute of Agriculture in Karnobat. It is classified as a malting variety suitable for use in breeding and for grain quality assessment based on indicators such as thousand kernel weight, uniformity, and the biochemical composition of hordeins.
In agronomic literature, this variety serves as a baseline standard for comparative studies of new lines. In addition, it is used in experiments to study the influence of harvest conditions on seed growth activity and as initial genetic material for the development of new varieties.
