The winter barley variety Retriever originates from the combination Annerose * (Himalaya * Anisette). In specialized publications, the variety is mentioned primarily as an object of genetic research, in particular in the study of grain color and the expression of HvHB and HvADH1 genes.
In scientific papers, it is noted that the variety may exhibit sensitivity to waterlogging. Retriever is also included in databases for testing seed certification methods using SNP marker analysis. Detailed agronomic characteristics, such as plant height or maturity group, are not presented in open data.
