Barley variety Rondo was obtained through intraspecific hybridization of the varieties Ratnik and Omsky golozerny 1. The plant is short-stemmed, the stem height is 65–75 cm, the color is light green without waxy bloom. The grain is round-shaped, large, the thousand kernel weight reaches 50.0 g.

The variety possesses high resistance to lodging, smut, and rust, and shows moderate resistance to net blotch and cereal fly damage. Yield varies from 4.68 to 5.22 t/ha.

The grain has a high test weight (730–740 g/l) and contains 14.00–15.05% protein, 61.18–61.78% starch, 3.05% oil, and is also distinguished by a high content of phenolic compounds. The variety is recommended for the production of dietary and baby food.
