The Rosalina barley variety is a product of the Sejet Planteforædling breeding program. Genetically, the variety originates from the cross of Beatrix and Eskobar varieties.
The variety is classified as malting barley. In scientific literature, it has been repeatedly used as a reference sample for studying grain germination processes and evaluating the nutritional value of whole-grain barley. Data on the specific maturity group, plant height, and resistance to lodging or diseases are absent, however, it is known that the variety does not possess breeding resistance to aphids.
