The variety is a two-row spring barley. The grain shows a relatively low hardness index. The variety is used in breeding as one of the parental components for developing new lines, including those for improving yield and technological quality traits.

Genetically, the variety possesses resistance to powdery mildew, conferred by the Mla13 gene. During field trials, Sencis demonstrated stable results when grown under organic farming conditions.
