The Semcicky Hospodarsky variety is a spring form of two-row barley. Its genetic origin is based on the crossing of the Dobrovicky Starocech and Maja varieties.
In agronomic practice and genetic banks, the variety is primarily used in breeding work. It is valuable as a genetic resource for the identification of resistance genes to the pathogen Blumeria graminis f. sp. hordei, which causes powdery mildew.
