CDC Stratus is a two-row malting barley. In Canadian breeding programs, it is known as a variety with good agronomic performance and was used as a parent line in the development of the Newdale variety.

The name Stratus is also mentioned in scientific publications regarding the comparative study of grain physical characteristics, specifically in comparison with hulless lines, as well as in research on the metabolic response of barley to moisture deficit conditions.
