The variety is a winter two-row barley bred at the Agricultural Institute in Karnobat. The plant is used both as a brewing crop and in breeding programs as a parental form to obtain mutant lines with improved grain characteristics.
The variety is characterized as high-yielding with good indices of extractivity and grain uniformity. During trials, the crop's resistance to loose smut (Ustilago nuda) infection was confirmed, as well as yield stability under various growing conditions.
