The variety is a two-row barley classified as feed. Morphological and economic characteristics include specific resistance to certain biotypes of the cereal cyst nematode (Heterodera avenae), in particular to Fr 3. The variety has also been used in studies on the genetic mapping of powdery mildew resistance genes.
In agronomic documents, the name may be found in European variety registers of various countries. When working with the variety, it should be noted that the word “zita” in older literature in some languages could be used as a common noun to refer to rye, but these data relate exclusively to Hordeum vulgare.
