The Zherar winter barley variety belongs to early-maturing plants with a period from emergence to heading of about 215 days. The plant height does not exceed 101 cm, and the bush has a semi-spreading form. The six-row cylindrical ear reaches 9 cm in length and is light yellow in color.
The protein content in the grain is 13–14%. The variety has increased adaptability to various climatic conditions, including the Steppe, Forest-Steppe, and Polissya regions. Resistance to powdery mildew and leaf spots is rated as medium, which requires mandatory fungicidal seed treatment before sowing.
