Vigomax is an interspecific hybrid created by crossing Solanum lycopersicum with wild species, in particular Solanum habrochaites. This material is not intended for fruit production and is used exclusively as a base for grafting commercial tomato varieties.

The biological properties of the rootstock provide the grafted plant with high growth vigor and adaptation to stress factors, including drought and salt stress. Increased resistance to soil-borne pathogens, such as Verticillium dahliae, is also noted in plants grown on this rootstock.
