The plant forms an upright, widely spreading bush with strong, sturdy stems, which are characterized by fasciation. The leaves are dark green, with a glossy upper side.

The mophead-type inflorescences are large and dense, consisting of sterile red-purple flowers. The variety is remontant, capable of reblooming on shoots of the previous and current year, and begins to bloom earlier than many other Hydrangea macrophylla varieties.

Possesses good inflorescence longevity after cutting. Frost resistance ranges from -18 to -23°C, which corresponds to USDA zone 6.
