The variety is a historical cultivar of Hydrangea macrophylla. In breeding work, it was used to create such varieties as Générale Vicomtesse de Vibraye and Saarbrücken.

The flowers of the variety are characterized as light pink and are gathered into inflorescences that are slightly smaller in size than those of the Otaksa variety, while the plant is distinguished by abundant flowering. There are discrepancies in the classification, however, the variety is most often attributed to the species Hydrangea macrophylla.
