The variety is valued for its high essential oil content. During the selection process, studies were conducted on the uniformity of corolla coloration, aimed at obtaining a homogeneous blue flower color, and on the stabilization of the essential oil composition.

The name of the variety translates from Hungarian as "blue-flowered" and is descriptive, indicating the characteristic color of the inflorescences.
