The variety is a compact plant 10–20 cm in height with narrow, bright green foliage that has a specific garlic odor when crushed. The flowers are star-shaped, six-petaled, 2.5–4 cm in diameter, and colored in deep violet-blue or dark blue with a darker stripe on each petal and a contrasting yellow center.
The plant flowers in spring; the flowering period can last up to 8 weeks. The variety is suitable for planting in rock gardens, borders, containers, or for naturalization in the garden. It is undemanding and resistant to being eaten by animals, but the bulbs may be subject to rot in case of excessive soil moisture.
