The plant forms a compact rosette of narrow linear leaves that possess a specific onion or garlic scent when rubbed. The height of the stems is from 8 to 15 cm.
The flowers have a six-pointed star shape, are colored silver-white with a dark stripe on the underside of the petals and golden-yellow stamens in the center. The flowering period occurs from March to May.
The variety is an ephemeroid: after spring flowering, its leaves die off and the plant enters a summer dormancy period. The crop is characterized by being low-maintenance and resistant to damage by animals, pests, and diseases.
It is used for decorative purposes for landscaping rock gardens, rockeries, creating mass plantings on lawns, growing in containers, or as an understory beneath trees and shrubs.
