The plant reaches 10–15 cm in height. The flowers have a deep dark purple color with a contrasting white-yellow or golden pattern on the petals, their diameter is 5–8 cm. The dark green quadrilateral leaves reach a length of 15–35 cm with a width of up to 3 cm. The flower has a subtle fragrance.
The variety is early-flowering, blooming occurs in February–March. The plant is characterized by winter hardiness down to -35 °C (USDA hardiness zone 3) and does not require lifting for the winter. Used for planting in alpine slides, rockeries, borders, on lawns, and in containers.
