This is a bulbous perennial reaching a height of 50–70 cm. The plant has narrow, sword-shaped gray-green foliage. Flowering occurs between April and June, depending on climatic conditions.
The flowers have a contrasting color: the upper petals (standards) are blue-violet or wine-red, and the lower ones (falls) are in brownish-maroon tones with a bright yellow signal at the base. The variety is intended for use in landscaping and for cut flower production.
The plant is characterized by high resistance to diseases and pests. The winter hardiness of the variety is assessed differently depending on conditions, making mulching desirable in regions with a harsh climate.
