The Siam Ribbon variety is a slow-growing plant with shortened internodes and wavy leaves densely arranged on the stem. In the open field, the shrub reaches a height of 0.9 m; when container-grown, its growth is usually limited to 45–60 cm.

The plant is used in landscape design for creating borders, low hedges, and for bonsai-style cultivation. The variety requires acidic soils, high air humidity, and regular fertilization; it prefers sunny locations or partial shade and does not tolerate cold.
