The variety originates from the locality of the same name in the Campania region and represents an autochthonous population. In scientific literature, it is considered within the framework of the inventory of Italian walnut resources.

The plant belongs to a group with a late male flowering period. Studies note its tolerance to bacteriosis, and also investigate morphological characteristics, oil composition, and tocopherol content in the fruits.

This ecotype is not an industrial variety and does not have wide commercial distribution. It is preserved as an object of academic and state programs for maintaining the gene pool.
