The Ockerwitzer Lange variety is a vigorous tree with a crown reaching 8–30 meters in height and 8–20 meters in width. The variety is characterized by early ripening, which adapts it to the conditions of regions with harsher climates, as well as high resistance to low temperatures.

The plant is self-fertile, although cross-pollination contributes to an increase in yield. The fruits have an elongated oval shape and reach 5 cm in length; the kernel is characterized by a pronounced spicy flavor.

The variety is traditional for German horticulture. It is cultivated both for nut production and as a long-lived ornamental tree.
