The variety is a perennial herbaceous plant with dark green smooth cylindrical stems without leaves. The shoots are dense, curved in a spiral, reaching a height from 25 to 50 cm. Flowering occurs rarely during the summer period; the flowers are small and have no decorative value.
The plant is demanding of moisture and needs a constantly moist substrate; it can be grown in water at a depth of up to 10 cm. It prefers a sunny location or light partial shade. The main problem during care is the drying out of the root ball, which leads to yellowing and dieback of the shoots.
