The variety is classified as butterhead lettuce. During its active breeding period, it served as a reference for creating new varieties possessing traits of slow bolting and resistance to internal head heat necrosis.

Breeding work with this variety was aimed at reducing leaf susceptibility to tipburn. The variety was widely used in fundamental research, in particular in the study of plant interaction with the downy mildew pathogen Bremia lactucae.
