The Barilla variety belongs to the Butterhead lettuce type. The plant forms a medium-to-large sized head with dense, thick leaves of a medium-green or dark-green color. It is characterized by a strong base and good head volume.
The variety is distinguished by slow head closure, which facilitates harvesting, and high field endurance, allowing it to maintain its marketable appearance for a long time. Suitable for cultivation during spring-autumn periods.
The plant possesses high resistance to tip burn, lettuce aphid (Nr:0), tomato bushy stunt virus (TBSV), and downy mildew (races BI:16–27, 29, 32, 34, 36 and BI:1–8). Intermediate resistance to lettuce mosaic virus (LMV:1) is also stated.
