The variety forms rather large, loose, oblong-shaped heads. The outer leaves are green, and the inner ones are yellowish. The height of a mature plant is 30–40 cm, with a relatively long stem. The leaves are firm and tough, making the variety suitable for both raw consumption and stewing.
The plant is intended for summer cultivation in temperate climates and is characterized by relative resistance to bolting. Historically, it belongs to the group of "self-closing" lettuces that do not require artificial tying to blanch the heart. The variety is considered identical to "Blonde maraîchère".
