The Emerson RZ variety belongs to the butterhead lettuce type. The plant has a compact structure, and the leaves are green in color.
The variety possesses resistance to lettuce downy mildew (Bremia lactucae) in the race range Bl: 1–28, and also exhibits resistance to lettuce root aphid (Pemphigus bursarius).
