The variety belongs to the group of red commercial lettuces and is often classified as the "Frisée d'Amérique" type. In scientific research, it is used as a reference sample due to its capacity for intensive pigment accumulation.

A distinctive feature of Likarix is its high anthocyanin content, which possesses antioxidant properties. The accumulation level of these substances in the variety is approximately 125–127 mg per 100 g of dry weight.
