The Matute variety is a medium-sized plant belonging to the Romaine type. A characteristic feature of its appearance is the dark green color of the leaves.
The plant possesses intermediate resistance to lettuce mosaic virus (LMV:1) and demonstrates resistance to downy mildew. In breeding documents, the variety is also designated by the code number 41-279 RZ.
