The variety is part of a breeding program that utilized interspecific hybridization of Lactuca sativa with Lactuca virosa, involving Lactuca serriola. The main objective of this work was the introduction of resistance genes to the leaf aphid Nasonovia ribisnigri.
During the selection process, tests for resistance to downy mildew were conducted. Traits such as head size and density, as well as the plant's tendency to bolt and leaf tip burn, were evaluated.
