The plant has an upright, shrubby or tree-like form and reaches a height of 3–4 meters. The bark is smooth and capable of peeling in colorful strips. The leaves are large, have a bronze tint when unfolding in spring, turn dark green in summer, and color in yellow, orange, and red tones in autumn.
Flowering is early, lasting from July to September or October. The inflorescences are dense panicles about 20 cm in size with bright red flowers, the petals of which have a crinkled texture. The variety is adapted to regions with cool summers, but has moderate winter hardiness, withstanding down to -7°C.
Planting requires sunny, warm locations and well-drained soil. To maintain its decorative appearance and stimulate the growth of flowering shoots, pruning is recommended at the end of winter, leaving 3–5 buds per shoot.
