The plant forms a compact bush about 0.7 m tall and 0.6 m wide. Young shoots are distinguished by a bronze hue, which as it develops changes to pale green with bronze highlights and contrasting veins. Flowering occurs in spring, with abundant red-pink flowers located on arched stems.
The variety is vigorous and hardy, possessing winter hardiness in the temperature range from -20 °C to -25 °C. The plant prefers partial shade or shade, requires fertile, moist, drained soils ranging from acidic to neutral, and tolerates drought poorly.
The variety is used in landscape design for edging, mixed borders, and rock gardens, and is also suitable for cultivation in containers and flower pots.
