Variety description

10 August 2026

Plants of this type have smooth, dark green, heart-shaped or lanceolate leaves with an upright growth habit. Unlike curly-leaved varieties, the foliage is less serrated and more tender. The variety type is very early-maturing; harvesting is possible 10–14 days after sowing.

The taste of the crop is characterized as piquant, with mustard and nutty notes, while smooth-leaved forms have a milder taste than curly ones. The product is used primarily fresh as an addition to salads, soups, sandwiches, and for garnishing dishes.

The crop is undemanding, cold-hardy, and capable of growing in various conditions, including containers and windowsills. The plant prefers bright locations and loose, moisture-retaining, well-drained soil. This is a historically established form, widely distributed in Europe.
