The flowers are lilac-blue with a white center and are gathered in loose umbellate inflorescences. The foliage is long, narrow, and grass-like; when damaged, it emits a characteristic onion or garlic odor. Plant height varies from 30 to 55 cm depending on growing conditions.
The plant is thermophilic and does not tolerate frost. It requires well-drained soils and a sunny location. In regions with cold winters, cultivation in containers with subsequent indoor storage is recommended.
