Variety description

The plant is a compact evergreen shrub with a height of 0.3 to 1.2 m and a spreading, drooping crown shape. The narrow-elliptic or lanceolate leaves have a pink-copper hue when emerging, then become dark green with a creamy-white margin, and acquire reddish and purple-pink tones in the cold season.

Flowering occurs from May to June. White bell-shaped flowers are gathered in drooping racemose inflorescences. The shrub is winter-hardy down to -27°C, requires sites protected from the wind, and acidic, moist, and well-drained soils. The plant is poisonous.
