The variety belongs to the Oriental hybrid group. The flowers are large, 20 to 25 cm in diameter, with a rich dark purple-red color with dark spotting, a narrow white margin along the edge of the petals, and wavy, recurved tips.

The plant stems are strong, erect, and densely leafy, 110–130 cm tall. Flowering occurs in July–August. The variety is frost-hardy (USDA zone 4–8), prefers fertile, well-drained soils with an acidic reaction, and is resistant to damping-off.
