According to the Royal Horticultural Society, the name «Rising Sun» was applied to several different lily crops, including an oriental hybrid and an Asiatic lily. Due to the lack of clear identification in registries, the official agronomic and morphological traits of the variety are not detailed.

In view of the fact that this name is used for a number of other plants, such as Cercis, Coreopsis, and dahlias, and that the descriptions of the lily found in trade catalogs may not correspond to registered varieties, identification of the variety requires the mandatory indication of the breeder.
