Variety description

The plant forms dense, bushy clumps 90–120 cm in height. In the spring, the leaves are colored almost black with a glossy sheen, and in the summer they acquire a deep, iridescent dark burgundy hue that persists until autumn. The inflorescences are terminal spicate racemes with tubular, two-lipped bright red flowers; the flowering period lasts from August to September.
The variety is intended for landscaping borders, shoreline zones of water bodies, and rain gardens. The plant is moisture-loving and requires constant soil moisture. It possesses high winter hardiness (USDA zones 3–8) and is resistant to deer browsing.
