The variety is characterized by a high rate of growth and biomass formation, capable of producing the first cut in a short timeframe, under favorable conditions three months after sowing. The plant is annual, cold-resistant, moisture-demanding, and highly responsive to nitrogen fertilizer application.

Unlike perennial ryegrass, the variety actively heads in the year of sowing when spring-sown. Breeding reports also contain a mention of a version of the variety named Barveloz II.
