The Barextra variety is a tetraploid ryegrass, functionally similar to westerwoldicum and italianum types. It possesses the ability for very rapid germination and active soil cover, demonstrating high yield, especially during the first cut.

The plant is distinguished by improved winter hardiness and higher persistence compared to traditional varieties of this species. The variety also possesses high resistance to rust infection.

Due to its tetraploid type, the variety has high palatability and digestibility indicators for livestock. It is intended for intensive forage production, including hay and haylage harvesting, and use in pastures.
