The variety «Gordo» is used as a standard for conducting technical tests aimed at assessing susceptibility to crown rust (Puccinia coronata). In the course of the studies, it was determined that this variety possesses a high degree of susceptibility to this disease.

The Italian ryegrass variety «Gordo» is used in forage production. The crop is intended for the establishment of short-term forage lands and cultivation on arable land, which allows for obtaining multiple cuts during the growing season.
