The McLaren variety is mid-early and is characterized by an optimal leaf-to-stem ratio. The plant possesses high growth energy, intensive tillering, and good lodging resistance.

The variety is distinguished by high productivity, especially in the first spring cut, and good fiber digestibility. Adapted to the conditions of the Mediterranean climate and regions with mild winters.

It is an alternative variety suitable for autumn and spring sowing with a seeding rate of 45–50 kg/ha.
