The Melina variety is a diploid Italian ryegrass. The crop is distinguished by a high dry matter yield potential and overall high yields of green mass suitable for use as hay or silage. Under favorable conditions, the variety provides up to 5–6 cuts per season.

The plant possesses lodging resistance and low risk of winterkill. Among biological characteristics, high resistance to powdery mildew and rust is noted. For sowing, seeding rates of 40–45 kg/ha with a seed sowing depth of 1–2 cm are recommended between April and August.
