The plant reaches a height of 40 to 80 cm. The root system is characterized as shallow, which makes the variety sensitive to severe frosts during snowless periods and intolerant of flooding or high groundwater levels.

Used as a lawn crop to create dense turf, reinforce soil, and landscape areas. It is also used to improve soil structure and suppress weeds in tree and shrub root zones, is included in grass mixtures, and is used as a green manure crop.
