The variety is the result of breeding using genetic material from the New Zealand ecotype. Morphologically, the plant is distinguished by wider leaves, shortened leaf sheaths, a smaller leaf appearance interval, and a reduced number of tillers compared to a number of other varieties.
The plant is used as a forage crop and a subject for scientific research on productivity under grazing. The variety is capable of maintaining productivity under soil moisture deficit conditions and is often used in symbiosis with Epichloë type endophytes, which contributes to increased resistance to stress factors.
The main indicator of the variety is its vegetative persistence, which ensures long-term population maintenance in the sward without the need for frequent reseeding. The genetic variability of the variety allows it to be used as a model for studying ryegrass adaptation mechanisms.
